Just A Little Prayer
I’ve been talking about how hard it can be to come back from vacation and some simple ways to combat the post-vacation slump. I decided to take my own advice yesterday (go figure) and say a little prayer to help me get through the rest of the week.
Though I ended up taking a personal day to try to get over my cold, I felt so much more capable of getting through what I needed to with my job after just asking the Lord for strength. I may not be back at full capacity, but it helped me navigate the fatigue. It also made me realize that I needed time to rest, hence the decision to take a personal day. As I was praying, I felt this overwhelming need to give myself a break.
God gives us permission to rest. In fact, He encourages it. We are the ones that push ourselves to move past pain quicker than we should. God, on the other hand, asks that we give ourselves time to heal and that we seek Him in that healing. It doesn’t matter if it’s a simple every day cold or a devastating heartbreak, we need to give our bodies and our souls rest so we can be strong again.
The next time you aren’t sure how you’re going to get through the day, say a little prayer and be open to what God tells you. You may be surprised at what a little prayer can do.
