Being A "Single" Pet Parent
Raising a dog has taught me a lot about patience, consistency, and love. Watching Belle pick up on a new skill or command brings me so much joy. Hearing someone tell me she’s “scary” or “mean” simply because of her appearance (and her overwhelming desire to let the world know she exists, which we are working on) puts me on the defensive. Having someone pet her or touch without asking upsets me.
I teach her. I protect her. I love her.
I treat her like my child.
But she has taught me the most during this alone season. All three of my fur kids have. Like any writer, I wrote about my experience and what these amazing furry creatures have taught me.
What are some of the best lessons your fur kids have taught you?
