If You Can't Stand The Heat...
…you probably shouldn’t be running in 90 degree weather. Seriously.
But I did anyway.
Why? Because I have goals. Because I promised myself I would run today, and I chose to sleep through my early morning alarm. Because I wanted to prove to myself I could. Because I made promises to myself that I don’t want to break.
Throughout my life I’ve set goals. But the ones I’ve recently set for myself are vastly different than ones I’ve set in the past. They will make me better. They will challenge me. They will actively shape me and my career. And that makes them even more important and even more worth it.
Sometimes I feel like I can’t stand the heat of these goals. Sometimes it feels like I’m running in 90 plus degree heat and I’m going to pass out from the exhaustion of it all. But then I get over the small crest, and I think keep going; you got this. (And on runs, sometimes Britney Spears’ Work Bitch helps.) It’s all about pacing.
Because life is a marathon, not a sprint.
Remember that when there’s something you want. It will take time. It will take patience. Pray about it. And work on flourishing where you are.
If you’re wondering if you can stand the heat, you can. Believe in yourself. Have faith. And if you are truly struggling, slow down. Breathe. Remember to pace yourself. It’s not always about speed. Sometimes—a lot of times—it’s just about building up the endurance.
